This presentation takes a critical look at the underlying assumptions of the mainstream land rush debate. This presentation analyses the mismatch between common conceptualizations and investors discourses on the one hand and the reality on the other hand, with regard to some important assumptions underlying the land rush. These are; 1) increasing scarcity, 2) rising farmland prices 3) rising profits of farmland investment.
