Have you been accepted to the MA in Development Studies?
If you have been selected please review this step by step guide concerning practical matters prior to your arrival at ISS.
After you have received the Letter of Admission (LoA), your status in the admission portal will still show 'In Progress' until you arrive at ISS. Kindly ignore this status until you arrive.
This information may not apply to everyone, but if it applies to you, please have a look at the link below. If you have questions about financial matters, please email: admission@iss.nl
Once you have received information about your funding, be it a scholarship, partial scholarship, private savings, loan and so on, you must immediately inform the Admission Office of your situation. The deadline for this is mid-July.
If you have received your scholarship or have found funding, please inform the ISS Admission Office. They will then provide you with all the necessary information on visa, health insurance and accommodation.
If you are still searching for a scholarship, ISS has a large database of scholarships that you may be able to apply for. Please go to: www.iss.nl/scholarships. Kindly check your eligibility criteria carefully prior to submitting a scholarship application.
Please try to apply for as many scholarships as possible to increase your chances of receiving one.
Please do not apply for a visa yourself. ISS will assist you fully in this matter. This also applies to health insurance and opening a bank account in the Netherlands. If you have any further questions on this matter, please contact: admission@iss.nl
What kind of visa do I need?
The Admission Office will apply for your visa (MVV), once the finances for your participation have been arranged. The whole visa application can take up to 4 weeks. Do not apply for a visa yourself, since this will be more expensive and the process will take much longer.
Please note that ISS will only assist ISS students in the visa application procedure.
Do I need a visa for the Netherlands?
Nationals of the EU, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea do not need a visa to enter the Netherlands. However you will need a Residence Permit. ISS will assist you in attaining the Residence Permit.
In June / July you will receive further instructions on how to secure your accommodation in one of the ISS housing facilities. If you are planning to live outside the ISS campus, please visit our Alternative Housing page.
