S (Sanchita) Bakshi

Biography

Sanchita Bakshi is a Ph.D. Researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague. Previously, she worked with Samaj Pragati Sahayog, one of India’s largest grassroots initiatives for water and livelihood security. She has also worked with the former Planning Commission of India engaging in research and policy related to water, rural development and panchayati raj institutions.

Sanchita is an MPhil in Development Studies from St Antony’s College, University of Oxford. She also holds a Masters Degree from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and has an undergraduate degree in Journalism from the University of Delhi.

Among her research and development interests are a deeper understanding of exclusion, disempowerment and deprivation in India and to learn ways in which human-centered, inclusive and sustainable development can be fostered for those currently excluded from the process.
