Biography
Lisa Peterson is a PhD researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies (Erasmus University Rotterdam). She holds a MSc degree in International Development from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and a BSc degree in Journalism from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Lisa has rich professional experience working in the humanitarian sector with the United Nations, NGOs and donors, both at a global and country level.
Her research focuses on exploring the perceptions and practices of national NGOs working in complex crises and their ways of working in collaborating and coordinating with other national actors. She is interested in national NGOs’ views on humanitarian and development work and how they translate their work in and navigate across these different spheres. She ties her research to an interrogation of the localization agenda and how intention and policy meet implementation.
