On 16 April 2019, Professor Thea Hilhorst of the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) recorded her talk for the Health and Climate Change World Conference being held in Cannes, France on 15 and 16 April.
Her talk was part of a workshop on Preventing health needs related to the combined effects of conflict and climate change, entitled Understanding the climate-conflict nexux from a humanitarian perspective.
About the conference
Climate change has already impacted on human health and projections are alarming. From North to South, every country is concerned and has to adapt, particularly to protect the most vulnerable people.
On the occasion of the centenary of the foundation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, France is organizing the first 'humanitarian COP' in order to update the scientific research and to present innovative solutions to take up the biggest public health challenge of the 21st century.
