On Monday 21 November Koen Voorend successfully defended his PhD thesis on 'A Welfare Magnet in The South? The Interplay between Migration and Social Policy in Costa Rica' in which he looked at the incorporation of Nicaraguan migrants into Costa Rica’s welfare arrangements.
His research analyses the ways in which migration and social policy interact, and considers migrants’ access to social services, specifically healthcare.
