On 12 December 2023, Daniela Andrade successfully defended her PhD thesis comprised of four stand-alone articles focusing on export agriculture in Brazil with a class-based political ecomony analysis.
Andrade discussed the history of Brazil's economic upturn at the beginning of the 2000s, critically examining the argument that places agriculture as strategic for Brazil’s economic and political power.
