Reaffirming teaching and research partnership with Institute of Development Studies

In January 2021 , Professor Inge Hutter, rector of the International Institute of Social and Professor Melissa Leach, director of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) signed an agreement renewing their institutional partnership, demonstrating their shared values and ongoing commitment to ensuring the representation of social sciences in responses to global shocks.

The agreement will facilitate a significant range of activities, from joint research projects on youth, migration and political ecology, to staff exchanges, teaching collaborations and convening platforms to influence European development policy and sharing learning on digital pedagogies.

Recent collaborations have been through the Journal of Peasant Studies (edited by Jun Borras and guest edited by IDS’ Ian Scoones), the Land Deals Politics Initiative, the Wellbeing, Ecology, Gender and Community Innovation Training Network (WEGO-ITN) and ISS Honorary Fellowship for IDS Research Associates Robert Chambers and Richard Jolly.

The agreement builds on decades of collaboration and extends the current agreement until December 2024.
