More ISS publications now available without paywalls

Over the past year, the University library has worked on making short scientific work by ISS researchers from 2015-2020 available to read for free in our research portal. This Open Access project has now been concluded, with amazing results.

The retroactive Open Access project

The Open Access Regulation (OAR) allows researchers to make their scholarly journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters publicly available after a six-month embargo period. From 2021 onward all eligible publications were already made Open Access in the university repository. However, this was not the case for scholarly work published before 2021. As the OAR regulation also has a retroactive force, the University Library has started to apply it to works published by ISS researchers during employment at the institute from July 2015 until 2020.

The results

In the table below you can see the Open Access trend for ISS 2015-2020 before and after the retroactive project. A total of 214 articles were made Open Access during the project. Find these articles and more ISS research output in our research information portal and repository.
