On 30 October 2023, staff and PhD researchers from the Political Ecology research group at the International Institute of Social Studies visited The New Farm, a hub for social impact firms focused on food, sustainability and circularity, in The Hague.
The New Farm is housed in a former Philips industrial building and now hosts a variety of small manufacturing and repair firms.
The buisnesses housed there include a firm producing sustainable chocolate without additives, a coffee roastery working with sustainably source coffee beans and a textile firm using recycled fabrics employing workers with a distance to the labour market.
