On Wednesday, November 21, ISS Professor Thea Hihorst talked about the potential of an international humanitarian ombudsman in combating sexual abuse in the humanitarian sector at an event organized at the Humanity House.
Recent research by ISS Professor Thea Hilhorst shows that the establishment of an international humanitarian ombudsperson can be an important means of combating this abuse. This is crucial information in light of the reports of sexual abuse of vulnerable people by emergency responders of humanitarian agencies, which surfaced earlier this year.
Professor Thea Hilhorst conducted this research at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She and speaker Amita Naik discussed the results of their research with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the humanitarian sector at the event.
