On Friday, 21 June, ISS MA students paid a study visit to the Dutch National UNICEF Committee office in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Sacha Bökkering (Head Advocacy and Programmes) hosted the group for a session that concluded the course ‘Children, Youth and Development: Policy and Practice’, an elective in the ISS MA in Development Studies programme.

Esther Polhuijs, Senior Specialist in Children’s Rights, contributed to the meeting. Students and accompanying staff, Roy Huijsmans and Karin Arts, were briefed about the organization's work and the challenges children in the Netherlands faced and worked on a simulation exercise of a child-sensitive disaster response. Thanks again to UNICEF in the Netherlands for hosting us and preparing such an engaging programme.
