ISS alumnus Merera Gudina released from prison

ISS expresses its joy that alumnus Merera Gudina was released from prison in Ethiopia on Wednesday.

In its report on the release, the BBC stated that Gudina had been in prison in Ethiopia since December 2016 and was facing charges including association with terrorist groups. Earlier this week the Ethiopian government announced it would be dropping all charges and Gudina was released two days later.

Merera Gudina graduated from ISS in 2002 with a PhD in Development Studies.

The ISS community wishes him all the best in his return to normal and productive life to pursue his passion and use his intellect and education to serve his country and people.
