Honorary Doctorate in International Development for Professor Wil Hout

The International Institute of Social Studies is proud to announce that Professor Wil Hout has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in International Development Studies (PhD h.c.) of Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.

The award was presented in recognition of Wil Hout's internationally acknowledged academic publications in the field of development studies, in particular in the areas of international relations and of development governance, and of his excellence in creating, inspiring and leading impactful international interdisciplinary IDS-networks for research, academic cooperation and consultancy.

The award was presented during the SDG Forum - Eradicating Poverty: Pathways towards achieving the sustainable development goals - in Cape Town, South Africa on 25 November 2024. The ceremony consisted of a keynote speech on the 'revival of geopolitics and its developmental implications' by Professor Christof Hartmann and laudatory speech deliverd by Professor Wilhelm Löwenstein.
