The future of fashion and its role in addressing climate change

PhD researcher Luciana dos Santos Duarte participated in two significant events at COP29 Blue Zone.

Both events delved into the future of fashion and its critical role in addressing climate change.

Fashion trends after 2030

On 14 November, Duarte presented fashion trends for climate change after 2030. Her talk outlined ten innovative trends for a world facing extreme weather and disasters. Ideas ranged from nocturnal adaptation and survival kits to the aestheticization of climate change in dystopian fashion.

The talk was part of the panel 'Fashion and Climate Change after 2030 - Sustainability and ESG Trends in Fashion'. It featured industry leaders, including sustainability heads from Lojas Renner and Lunelli Têxtil. Topics included circular fashion, eco-friendly materials, slow fashion and combating greenwashing.
