Dr Roy Huijsmans to research youth migration and rural changes in Laos

Dr Roy Huijsmans, Associate Professor in Childhood and Youth Studies at the International Institute of Social Studies has been offered a three month sabbatical with the Laos office of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).

During his fellowship at IWMI, Dr Roy Huijsmans will be working on 'Youth Migration and Rural Changes in Laos: A longitudinal approach'.

His key research findings will feed into IWMI’s research portfolio on migration and rural transformation as well as the ongoing policy discussions on youth migration and agrarian change in Laos, while contributing directly to the work of Department of Policy and Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Dr Huijsmans will work closely with Dr Diana Suhardiman – Governance and Gender Research Group Leader with IWMI.
