Last week, for the second consecutive year, ISS took part in coordinating and jointly delivering a short course on Migration in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The course was attended by 27 participants from Sri Lanka, Switzerland, and Nepal, working in the public sector, diplomatic missions, international organizations, civil society organisations and academic institutions.
The course received financial support from the Dutch (2018) and the Swiss embassies (2019) in Sri Lanka.
Dr Shyamika Jayaundara-Smits, Assistant Professor in Conflict and Peace Studies from ISS, helped develop and coordinate the course. The teaching faculty constituted of international and local staff from various universities in Europe and Sri Lanka - ISS/EUR, Radboud University, Utrecht University, SOAS-University of London, Colombo University - researchers from the Center for Poverty Analysis, guest speakers and practitioners from public sector and (I)NGOs working on migration issues in Sri Lanka.
