How have various societies around the world dealt with COVID-19? What are the local coping mechanisms for COVID-19 and its spill-over crises?
The When disaster meets conflict research team worked with MA students and PhD researchers to try to find some answers.
The aim of this research was to inform better linkages between top-down, external measures and local, socially and culturally appropriate initiatives.
The research focused on 7 countries - Brazil, Chile, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, India, Philippines and Zimbabwe and produced a number of blog posts, working papers and articles. It found that response to COVID-19 can be improved when authorities, health systems and aid agencies build more on local institutions.
Take a look at the research outputs - Analyzing local responses to COVID-19.
