They will discuss issues around corruption in emergency aid, the role of village leaders in manipulating aid resources, the problem of corruption reporting in close-knit communities, and more besides.

Within the communities studied, a surer method for ensuring accountability seems to be through direct and indirect trust-based connections between displaced people and (civic) humanitarian agencies.

The discussion will further underline the need for adopting a context-specific approach to humanitarian accountability, the role of social networks, and the specific complexities of ensuring accountability in rural Bangladesh.

The webinar will include a presentation by Hyeonggeun Ji, a reflection by Shamim Arfeen and time for a Q&A with the speakers at the end.
