Bandung has a remarkably vibrant urban agricultural sphere with strong municipal support, which was highlighted as a global best practice by the Milan Urban Food Pact.

The municipal policy supports local urban agricultural groups with multiple aims while drawing on local cultural practices:

  • provision of sustainable & healthy food
  • localization of food production
  • income generation

In this presentation, Geminlang Lara Utama delves into the possibilities and limitations of this approach, drawing especially on the example of Bandung's Living Lab on urban agriculture.
