Biography
Juan David Cárdenas is an economist, with a specialization in Financial Management and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Universidad de los Andes. He is currently a PhD candidate in Development Studies at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University Rotterdam.
My academic and professional background has focused on labor policy analysis, wage inequality, and regional disparities. I have worked in the production of strategic information to support decision-making at local and national levels, with a particular emphasis on identifying and measuring human capital gaps and designing context-sensitive public policies.
As part of my doctoral research, I explore the impact of migration on wage inequality and development, considering dimensions such as human mobility, remittances, and the transformation of both sending and receiving territories. I approach these issues from a critical, interdisciplinary perspective committed to social justice.
I have experience in quantitative analysis, econometric modeling, and the use of statistical software such as R, Stata, and EViews. My research interests include the political economy of development, labor markets, inequality, migration, and public policy analysis.
