Corporate social responsibilty standards for Dutch companies investing in the green hydrogen sector in Morocco

Embassy Science Fellowship for Dr Sylvia Bergh

Associate Professor Dr Sylvia Bergh has won an Embassy Science Fellowship from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) to investigate Morocco as a future supplier of green hydrogen energy for Europe.

Her research will focus on two specific aspects of this topic and produce two related outputs.

The fellowship will enable Bergh to spend six weeks in Morocco hosted by the Dutch embassy there. Her research has been designed in colaboration with Dutch embassy staff to ensure societal relevance for Dutch foreign policy.

Bergh will develop a succinct manual on the Corporate Social Responsibility standards which Dutch businesses interested in investing in the green hydrogen sector in Morocco should adhere to, especially with regard to water and land resources.

A second output will be a co-created outline of a human capital roadmap for the green hydrogen energy sector in Morocco in order to build technical capacity in the short, medium and longer term.

About the Embassy Science Fellowship programme

The Embassy Science Fellowship (ESF-NL) programme gives researchers the opportunity to gain experience in the diplomatic world and use their expertise to inform Dutch foreign policy. The researchers give an extra impulse to the scientific cooperation with third countries and feed the policies of embassies and consulates with scientific knowledge.

The programme is an initiative of NWO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is part of the Science Diplomacy Fund (SDF).
