Scaling up local actions shaping climate trajectories in East African cities

LEARN webinar with Professor Shuaib Lwasa
Kibera public space project - Nairobi

Professor Shuaib Lwasa will moderate this first Leiden-Delft-Erasmus East Africa Network (LEARN) webinar exploring fundemental policies, principles and practices underpinning locally-led adaptations in East African cities.

In the face of climate change, cities in East Africa are grappling with a range of challenges, from flooding and sea-level rise to extreme heat and drought. To address these issues, there is a growing recognition of the importance of locally-led adaptation strategies that empower communities and leverage their unique knowledge and resources.

The first in a series of cross-city policy dialoges, this webinar will bring together diverse stakeholders to share experiences showcasing successful examples of locally-led adaptation in East African Cities – exploring fundamental policies, principles and practices that underpin such initiatives, highlighting the value of local innovation, and discussing strategies for overcoming structural barriers in building locally-led climate resilience.

Moderated by Professor Shuaib Lwasa, the webinar will include 90 minutes of presentations, panel discussions and Q&A sessions.
