To aid you in exploring research the Library offers access to a wide array of academic databases. However, the number of databases can be overwhelming and actually finding the literature that you need can be tricky. Join the Library workshop Finding Needles in the Social Sciences Haystack: Effective Searching for Academic Literature on January 20th, 9:30-11:00 hrs to get an overview of what is out there, to learn about search terms for online resources, and to discover which databases suit your needs.
In the workshop, aimed at PhD candidates but open for other researchers as well, we will:
- explain how to select search terms, and how they can impact your search results
- go over a selection of the databases and their characteristics (and learn why Google Scholar isn't a scholarly database)
- share practical tips on using certain databases
