Changing Our Story: The Pursuit of Inclusive Education - Documentary screening

The Changing Our Story: The Pursuit of Inclusive Education (E+CHOS) project seeks to challenge and demystify inclusive education in higher education by leveraging the power of storytelling. The initiative addresses the global issue of inherent inequalities faced by students from racially minoritized, LGBTQA+, disabled, low-income, or migrant backgrounds and the challenges educators face in meeting their diverse needs. 

The project is led by the University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic), Constantine the Philosopher University (Slovak Republic), the University for Development Studies (Ghana), The Hague University of Applied Sciences, and the International Institute of Social Studies (both in the Netherlands). The main outcomes of the project include an online course for academic professionals, a student-led art exhibit, and a documentary, all of which promote diversity and inclusion in higher education.

This project was funded by the Erasmus+ KA220-HED Cooperation partnership.

This screening event will feature a 45-minute documentary that highlights the work behind this impactful project. The film encourages conversations about inclusion and diversity, helping students and staff promote these values in higher education.

Opening remarks
The event will begin with introductory remarks from:

• Professor Rosalba Icaza – An expert in global education and development studies.
• Dr Sreerekha Mullassery Sathiamma – Renowned for her contributions to inclusive education practices and critical pedagogies.

The speakers will talk about the documentary’s themes and why they matter for creating more inclusive academic spaces. Their thoughts will introduce the screening and encourage discussion.
